01
Marrakech → Ait Ben Haddou → Dades Valley
~360 km ~7h drive
Your driver-guide picks you up in Marrakech and heads south over the High Atlas Mountains toward the fortified village of Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage kasbah of red clay towers that has featured in numerous films. After exploring its narrow lanes, continue east into the Dades Valley, known for its dramatic rock formations and gorge scenery, where you'll spend the night.
02
Dades Valley → Erg Chebbi Dunes (Sunset Camel Trek & Desert Camp)
~300 km ~6h drive
Leave the Dades Valley and drive south toward Merzouga on the edge of the Sahara. In the late afternoon, mount your camel for a trek across the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi as the sun sets over the desert, arriving at your camp for a traditional Berber dinner and a night spent sleeping under a sky full of stars.
03
Merzouga Desert → Midelt → Ifrane (Travel Day Toward Fes)
~350 km ~6h drive
Rise early for a final look at the dunes before breakfast, then begin the long drive north out of the Sahara. The route climbs steadily through the Ziz Valley's palm groves and the market town of Midelt, then through the cedar forests around Ifrane, known as Morocco's 'Little Switzerland', before continuing on toward Fes for the night.
04
Fes Medina Guided Tour (Official Local Guide)
On foot Full day
Spend the day exploring Fes el-Bali, the walled medina of Fes and one of the world's largest car-free urban areas, with an official local guide. Wander the maze of covered souks, see the tanneries where leather has been dyed by hand for centuries, and step inside the Al Quaraouiyine, founded as one of the oldest universities in the world.
05
Fes → Volubilis → Chefchaouen
~190 km ~4h drive
Depart Fes and stop at Volubilis, the best-preserved Roman ruins in Morocco and a UNESCO World Heritage site, where mosaic floors and standing columns still trace the outline of the ancient city. From here, drive north into the Rif Mountains to Chefchaouen, the Blue Pearl, where every wall, step, and doorway in the old town is washed in shades of blue.
06
Chefchaouen Free Morning → Departure Transfer to Marrakech or Casablanca
On foot Morning + transfer
A free morning to wander Chefchaouen's blue-washed lanes at your own pace, browse the medina's craft stalls, or simply photograph the town's famous alleyways one last time. In the afternoon, your driver takes you on the return journey to your chosen departure city, Marrakech or Casablanca, where your tour concludes.
